Forestgate Presbyterian Church exists to glorify God and make disciples of Christ in northern El Paso County by:
Exalting our Lord in joyful biblical worship
Encouraging each other to love and good deeds
Equipping each other for service
Engaging the culture around us
Exalting our Lord in joyful biblical worship through:
- Liturgy and sermons built on a high view of biblical truth, relationally grounded, and relevant to life;
- Congregational singing of old and new hymns (with old and new tunes); and
- Involvement of skilled congregational musicians and vocalists.
Living in Community with one another
Encourage each other to love and good deeds through
A welcoming atmosphere of warmth that permeates all we do as a community;
Walking with people in the good, the bad and the ugly of life;
Community Groups; and
Steadfast prayer for one another.
In Acts 2:42, members of the early church devoted themselves to four things: teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayer. Sometimes it can be hard to truly connect with others on Sunday mornings, but at Forestgate one of the ways we try to be intentional about fruitful Christian fellowship is to encourage members to join a community group close to their home. Most community groups gather every other week to discuss the sermon, pray together, and share any other burdens. Some groups are age-specific but most are intergenerational. Community groups are also a good entry point for new attendees to be able to spend extended time with Forestgate families and get to know our church culture and values. Spending time discussing the sermon helps to solidify what we’re learning, promotes openness about struggles, and gives children the opportunity to ask questions. Community groups often have informal events as well such as picnics or game nights which allow people to grow in intimacy in a relaxed atmosphere. If you are interested in joining a community group, go the map and email the representative of the group you would like to visit.
Equipping each other for service in the church and in the kingdom through
Biblical education and personal discipleship;
Identifying and developing each one's gifts by active involvement and mentoring;
Intentional leadership development; and
Building strong families and singles relationships within the context of multi-generational ministry
Women's Ministry Team
Our Women’s Ministry exists to equip and encourage women of all ages and seasons of life to grow in their relationships with Christ & each other. The heart of our vision is two-fold: we want to enable you to study and treasure God’s Word, and to encourage you in living out the kind of discipleship relationships described in scripture. Forestgate Women’s Ministry includes daytime and evening Bible studies, small group and one-to-one discipleship opportunities, as well as other regular group gatherings. Our prayer is that through these means God will continue to draw us to Christ, deepen our understanding of the gospel, and ignite our passion to live as the community of believers and as a light to those around us. We'd love to have you join us!
Men's Ministry Team
At Forestgate, the mission of the Men's ministry team is "Men equipping men in Christ". We seek to equip men to become spiritual leaders in their families, church, communities and other spheres of influence the Lord provides. Every man needs encouragement from other men in his life who know him well enough to challenge and confront him in a very personal way. Furthermore, there is great value in men meeting together as men to explore the unique spiritual challenges they today face. It is our hope that through weekly Bible studies, prayer groups, and our monthly breakfasts, we can spur one another on to love and good deeds (Heb. 10:24), confess our sins to one another (Jas. 5:16), build one another up in the faith (1 Thes 5:11), and encourage each other to fight the good fight (1 Tim. 6:12)
Our Youth Group compliments the grace-centered mission of Forestgate tailored to the needs of ages 12- High School. The ultimate goals are to equip youth to understand and live out the truth of God’s Word consistently, defending it confidently. Meetings begin with youth-led worship music, prayer and praise time. Lessons focus on the culture around us and how we relate as Christians, “In but not of the world,” engaging and influencing the culture around us. Lively discussion is followed by food and fellowship. Additional get-togethers are often devoted to service projects within the community and in support of the church family.
In Matthew 28:19-20, just before Jesus ascends to the Father, he commissions the newborn church to do four things: to go, to make disciples, to baptize, and to teach believers everything He has commanded. Sunday school is one of Forestgate’s central outlets for us to be faithful to the fourth call in the great commission through in-depth teaching that will enable believers to grow into a fuller knowledge of the scriptures, Christian obedience, and love for the Word. We believe this teaching time is vital for both the brand-new Christian and the long-time member alike. Sunday school takes place every Sunday at 10 am and there are age specific classes for children, teens, and adults.
Community Outreach and Service
Engaging the culture around us as salt and light through intentional individual involvement with:
- Our northern El Paso County community;
- The U.S. Air Force Academy; and
- The poor, needy and unchurched, both locally and across the globe.
Forestgate exists for one reason, there is good news to share and we want the world to know! Each member of the church is on a vital mission to be salt and light in the spheres of influence where God has placed us. Forestgate seeks to equip and encourage believers to share that good news of the gospel into our neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, and communities. We also seek to be a safe place where members can invite those exploring their faith to come, ask real question, to be honest, and hear the God news that Christ came to reconcile people back to a loving and faithful God.
At Forestgate, it is our earnest desire to see the gospel growing and flourishing in Northern El Paso County and we believe a vital way to support that is to establish more faithful churches. Although it may seem at first glance that there are plenty of churches in the area, statistically only 16% of our city is evangelical protestant, that means over 500,000 people in El Paso County do not know the forgiveness, grace, and mercy found in the Gospel. Forestgate is a member of the Western Church Planting Network (WCPN) and seeks to partner and participate in planting more churches along the front range.
At Forestgate, we believe that mercy ministry is about meeting the physical needs of our church and our surrounding community in Jesus’ name. We are serving in response to the mercy that Christ has shown us. One of the goals of mercy ministry is that our love will have consequences beyond just meeting peoples’ physical needs, in the hopes that God would bless our efforts to eventually leading someone to Christ. Meeting physical needs can demonstrate to the world a picture of the spiritual healing that is offered in the gospel. Our deacons are leading the way in this area by both offering opportunities in our city to get involved and to spur us all on to love and care for our local community.
The Missions team at Forestgate Presbyterian Church supports and encourages the overall mission of the church, which is to proclaim God’s love through the gospel to Colorado Springs, North El Paso County, and the world. The Missions team provides support for missionaries in our community, in our country, and abroad. We want to encourage their work through financial support, prayer, and regular communication. We support various missionaries every month and also give monetary gifts to various other individuals and groups.Our goal is to cultivate a heart for missions among our members by encouraging them to participate in Missions, both directly and indirectly, through short and long-term missions trips, financial support, and prayer.
