Community Groups
Encourage each other to love and good deeds through:
A welcoming atmosphere of warmth that permeates all we do as a community;
Walking with people in the good, the bad and the ugly of life;
Community Groups; and
Steadfast prayer for one another.
In Acts 2:42, members of the early church devoted themselves to four things: teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayer. Sometimes it can be hard to truly connect with others on Sunday mornings, but at Forestgate one of the ways we try to be intentional about fruitful Christian fellowship is to encourage members to join a community group close to their home. Most community groups gather every other week to discuss the sermon, pray together, and share any other burdens. Some groups are age-specific but most are intergenerational. Community groups are also a good entry point for new attendees to be able to spend extended time with Forestgate families and get to know our church culture and values. Spending time discussing the sermon helps to solidify what we’re learning, promotes openness about struggles, and gives children the opportunity to ask questions. Community groups often have informal events as well such as picnics or game nights which allow people to grow in intimacy in a relaxed atmosphere.
